Nuclear Technology Should Be Banned.

Nuclear technology have been used for decades. During the World War 2, the United States used nuclear bombs, the “Fat Man” and “Little Boy” to attack Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which caused hundreds and thousands people died in the war, even if they did not get caught in the blast, they died due to the acid rain. Nuclear technology includes nuclear energy, nuclear weapons and nuclear medicine. This technology involves the reactions of atomic nuclei. Nuclear technology helps us in different kinds of fields such as electricity, oil and gas, medication and high technology weapons. Although nuclear technology is very useful for us now or even in the future, but it is a very risky technology. It can hurt people or cause sudden death. You cannot predict when the accidents happen, and how strong the power of nuclear is. Everything you know about nuclear technology might change in the next second, from good news to bad news.
Nuclear energy is an energy that provides us electricity. Yes indeed, nuclear energy provides 13%-14% of world electricity. But have you ever thought that nuclear energy can cause death and different kinds of illness? It is true that nuclear energy safety record is good compared to other energy, but the side effects after nuclear accidents are worst than any other energies. In 1986, Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant Number Four, which was located in Ukraine, exploded and fire released large amount of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere. It spread over most of Western Ukraine and Europe. This power plant disaster was considered the worst disaster in the history. Due to the releasing of radioactive, 237 people suffered from acute radiation sickness, with 31 dead within the first three months after the disaster. Many children got leukemia a few months later. The food chain was destroyed after the accident. Many flora and fauna were unable to sat alive when the radioactive hit them. This accident had caused lots of damage to Chernobyl.
Another accident of nuclear energy was happened in Japan 2011. Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant exploded when the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. Similar to the accident happened in Chernobyl, the radiation was released after the explosion. Large amounts of radioactive isotopes was released into the Pacific Ocean. Japan governments and other countries’ presidents had asked their nations to stay away from the places near the nuclear power plants after it exploded. But still, many people died because of the explosion and the side effects after the spreading of radiation. Later on, Fukushima Daiini Nuclear Power Plant leaked and cause another minor earthquake. Although the nuclear power plants had start to cool down, but this disaster still caused Japan a huge damage in their properties, technologies, and citizens of Japan. Due to the nuclear power plant accident, many Japanese and foreigners suffered in pain and tears for three weeks.
Furthermore, during World War 2, the United States created two nuclear bombs. In August 1945, a uranium gun-type device called ”Little Boy” was detonated over Hiroshima in Japan. Few days later, a plutonium implosion-type device called “Fat Man” was exploded over Nagasaki. These two bombings resulted in the deaths of approximately 200,000 Japanese people and most of them were citizens. Nuclear weapons are now widely used in United States, France, United Kingdom etcetera. When a war begins, a nuclear bomb is high-risked weapon. It will be very dangerous once it exploded. People within the radius of the explosion will die easily and some of them might get leukemia, a type of cancer which can cause death in any second. After the explosion of nuclear bomb, the pressure wave from underground explosion will propagate through the ground and cause a minor earthquake. It will also trigger fault rupture and cause a major quake at a distance of ten miles within the shot point. When earthquake happens, it will cause another damage to the country.
As we all know, nuclear medicine is a speciality of medicine that uses radionuclides and relies on the process of radioactive decay in the treatment of disease. Of course, nuclear medicine can cure a person’s illness, but it is also very dangerous for human beings because it uses radioactive. One of the medicine is Chemotherapy. Chemotherapy is good the ones who have third-stage cancer. This medicine uses radioactive to kill the cancer cells that exist in our body. But at the same time, it is also killing the good cells, the useful ones. It is helping the patient, but the patient is still going to die in few months or years, unless miracles exist. Hence, instead of doing treatments that are high-risked, why not try different treatments to cure the illness? It is better to save yourself than risking your own life.
Lastly, nuclear technology is very dangerous for us. Nuclear power plant can explode or leak suddenly and caused thousands of death. While for nuclear bombs, the “Fat Man” and “Little Boy” created by the United States had caused a result of 200,000 people died in Japan. Nuclear disaster will not happen again if we use it wisely or reduce the usage of nuclear energy. Only then, we can all live in peace and harmony. Together, we create a better world.
